First off, the Arctic Circle Trail has within its premises over one hundred hundred lakes; unimaginable, I know, but that’s just one of many many natural wonders of the ACT. Set against the country backdrop of Greenland, the ACT provides hikers with splendid views and out-of-this-world experiences that when you’ve gone on a hike there, you would say nothing compares to it.
There are about eight basic huts scattered throughout the path, and you are free to make a stop there to relaxation for a bit or to spend the night. The shelters are open to all hikers, and also you won’t be charged for staying in for the night. The only limitation, if you can even call it that, is that each one of these can only accommodate about 4 to 6 hikers who wish to spend the night.
If you should go clean up a bit or relieve yourself, some of the huts are also geared up with lavatory facilities.
Now for the real adventure
The Arctic Circle Trail covers an area of about one hundred sixty kilometers, stretching from Kangerlussuaq to Sisimuit. A bit of warning although — the path isn’t ideally suited for novices and you would need to be physically fit and healthy to be able to finish the trail — which would take about 9 to eleven days.
When you’re after solitude, then this is one of the best place to go! Vehicles? You won’t discover them here! Crowds, and towering structures? None of these either! In a word, the ACT takes you away from everything that provides you stress; noise, crowds, cars whizzing previous, buildings that block your views of nature, and another imaginable man-made obstruction.
On the Arctic Circle Trail, chances are you’ll feel misplaced while you first get in; feeling disoriented because all you see is an enormous expanse of land. However once you’ve trekked for awhile, and have taken in the beauty of your natural surroundings, chances are you’ll be stunned at how the ACT may also help you discover yourself.
On the Arctic Circle Trail, you’re actually one with nature. Ride a canoe, swim within the lake, go fishing, snap images of wildlife out of the blue making an look (small Arctic fox, hare, and reindeer are only a few of the animals you may find yourself walking alongsideside with).
In case you are an adventure seeker like me, I’m quite sure you’ll have the very best hiking expertise yet whenever you go to the Arctic Circle Trail!
